In April 2013, Lisa Coke and I went to Blantyre, Malawi. We were able to shower the love of Jesus on the people there. Through generous donations we were able to provide clothing, food, and bibles. We had so much money available we also were able to provide Violet with a sewing machine and give to other areas over and above what we expected. Our hearts were completely moved and changed by the love and welcome we recieved from the community.
We were able to visit with the children at the school and see what they were learning. We saw the facilities and what all was needed to provide for the children. Many ofthe needs include the following: building completion, school supplies and uniforms, lunches, salaries for teachers (they only make $50 per month but have beed working with little to no pay), and desks (which we provided on our trip because of the extra provided money).
We visited the chicken pen that is in progress. Our goal is to get business going so that they can become more self sufficient.
We walked through neighborhoods that we could only get to by foot and went into homes to provide food to the elderly and widows.
We were able to share the gospel with all we met. I had the honor of preaching in Biziwick’s church, Bangwe Baptist Church, the first Sunday we were there. I knew God had been preparing me for something but I just did not realize it was that! I was a little nervous at first, but when I stood up in front of all those wonderful people the Word of God flowed right out of me into their hearts.
This was an amazing trip for both Lisa and myself. Thank you to everyone who contributed in prayer and financially.
